Facebook has continued to adapt itself, not everything has been perfect, but it is a good innovator and experimenter which in itself means it stands a better chance. Facebook Connect extends the Facebook brand beyond the network's boundaries. What does it mean in the long term? Who knows, but it's definitely working at the moment.
http://www.cekmagdurlari.com

You bring up a lot of good points. I think Facebook took the idea of personalization and customization through privacy and groups controls, and particularly apps and the way that people can connect and interact using them.

What's crazy about Facebook is that they almost go against one of the greatest promotional tools new technologies leverage today, that being personalisation and customisation. Sure, you can tailor your specific privacy settings and apps, but not in the way MySpace let you change background, music, and to some extent, layout. I think that's where Facebook has succeeded, in so far that it kept a standard view and layout for everyone, rather than allowing for total personalisation.

I suppose being a first mover like MySpace isn't always advantageous... If Facebook were to change their layout, I think it would cause an uproar, since you can seldom successfully take things away from people. It's almost sad to see the MySpace empire crumble..

http://avenuel.wordpress.com/
