Time Magazine’s Top 10 Websites of 2007 Are Strange, Interesting… and Strange
Time Magazine bills its comprehensive 50 Top 10 Lists of 2007 as “a yearbook of all the top events you’ve been talking about.” So as we get into the Top 10 Websites section, I fully expected to get inundated with full blasts of Facebook and YouTube and other titans of webby world. At the very least I expected to see the names that carried the most buzzy buzz this year, such as Twitter.
Instead, we’re treated to a much more eclectic list:
* Lemondade.com
* AskSunday.com
* Wink.com
* TechPresident.com
* Goodreads.com
* MenuPages.com
* DontForgetYourToothbrush.com
* VolunteerMatch.com
* FatSecret.com
* Indeed.com
So, there are some nice sites in there. I like TechPresident.com, for example, which looks at the intersection of technology and politics. And to be sure there’s something bold and perhaps even noble in trying to not to be same old-same old in constructing a year end Best Of list.
But someone at Time got way too cute with these selections.
