Got Jott?
I noticed recently a few people using Jott – a service that translates voice to text – to post to Twitter, and the web geek that lurks in my soul (he rattles his Dickensian chains in the dark hours of the night, hauntingly) smiled with admiration and delight.
But I always wonder if this kind of thing will find wide usage. Several years ago I had a job that took me all over southern California, sometimes I’d drive 200 or 300 miles in a day. I always planned to use a tape recorder to record grand dreams, to do lists, and ideas for the Great American Novel, but never quite got around to it (including the Novel, which remains to this day in what could be kindly referred to as a crappy second draft status).
And imagine Jott back in the day of the great orators: Cicero, Abraham Lincoln, Winston Churchill (who dictated many of his rich and teeming non-fiction tomes)? Hard to imagine old Winston logging into the Interwebs somehow, isn’t it?
Could Jott have come to my rescue? I don’t know, but it still seems to be a neat little service.
