Future President to Appoint White House Blogger?
If the next President of the United States is a Democrat, the answer would seem to be yes.
Pretty wild to think about future White House Press Secretaries writing a daily blog, or simply have a full time blogger on hand to jot interesting news and notes about West Wing goings on.
Of course, it would all be spin doctored to a fine sharp point. Would an official White House blog have open comments? That might be the most interesting question. And I wouldn’t envy the person who would need to wade through and moderate all of the not-so-nice feedback!

Man that sounds like a tough job - I seem to recall a politcal blogger that was working for the J. Edwards campaign that was raked over the coals by the right wing blogs.
I just mean to say that political blogging is a rough place
I imagine an “official” political blogger would have a huge target on their back, no matter what party affiliation…

Yeah, I would guess that the official White House blog would not have open comments!
The political blogosphere is a rough-and-tumble place. It’s hard to imagine a White House blogger fitting in very easily into that mix, though it would be a lot of fun to see he/she/they try !

No doubt, the West Wing blogger would be wise to practice discretion and master the art of spin. Just look at what happened to Bush BFF Karl Rove. Otherwise, the job is a political junkie’s dream. Nothing to do all day but write quippy blurbs and cavort with presidential gadflys. Perhaps morning coffee with the President. Where do I apply?
