Real World-Online Interaction Is Getting Interesting
Political organizations such as MoveOn.org proved during the 2004 presidential campaign that it’s possible to organize “real life” events involving thousands of people.
Now, things are getting more interesting. TechCrunch features a few stories this morning that show how “web 2.0″ companies are innovating to draw eyeballs and repeat visitors.
Instead of being just another social networking also ran, Going.com steps things up by allowing site members to “gift” free drinks to other members, which are redeemable at select New York City bars. And meanwhile a company called Reactee has created “interactive tee-shirts” that allow people to text message reactions to real world wearers of tee shirts bearing activist messages, such as “Stop Global Warming”.
I wonder when people will start getting hate-text message-mail?
