I noticed that the time spent on the site per visit went up noticeably after I dropped the MyBlogLog widget -- which had been the leading exit point from my site. It's a tough call -- nice for community-building and all that, but you want readers to hang out on your site, no? It would be very useful and kind of cool to be able to look at a site that had a bunch of music-related widgets or whatever. In the case of music alone, there are so many widgets now available that I think it would be very difficult to jam 'em into one site! That’d be a lot of widgets!

Avoiding clutter is something to keep in mind. So therefore, a widget has to be really useful - providing more value than just the display of a stat - in order be worth it. I'd like to see some blogger install every widget available just as an example. Kinda like that person who downloaded a huge amount of FireFox Plug Ins and took a screen shot... Good points.
